October 2016 - Last session of the term


 Final session before half term, students were helping out by targeting the small Carp which needed to be separated and placed into the growing ponds. Some really stunning young Carp were caught, 21 of which were transferred. It's amazing how the young stock fish have already spawned so well. Future is looking bright for Carpdell Lake

October 2016 - Students help out with the stock pond


 Something a little different this week at Cassiobury Farm and Fishery. It was time to separate out some of the smaller carp from the stock pond. These fish are the natural descendants of the VS stock that were introduced a few years ago. Some cracking scale patterns, which I'm sure will be key targets for the future. Charlotte, Isiah, Ben and Mickey were joined by Tom for his first fishing trip with us. Plenty of fish to keep them...

October 2016 - Tom gets on board!


 Great to catch up with Tom again as he joined us for the second of his trial sessions. Carp and Tench were not playing the game today so Tom concentrated on getting amongst the Roach, Perch and Gudgeon, including this excellent specimen. Pleased to say that Tom shall now be transferring over to our main group initially working towards his CAST awards and then looking to study the AIMS programme. Welcome aboard Tom!

October 2016 - 1st day sucsess for Tom!


 Thomas joined us for the first of his two trial sessions this week. A really keen angler, Thomas was looking to beat his personal best carp of 7lb. Two lost fish and only 15 minutes to go of the 3 hour session and we thought his chance had gone. But One resident of Carpdell thought differently and tore off with the TG Active boilie. 25lb 8oz Common Carp, a well deserved prize for the hard work he put in. Well...

October 2016 - Rickmansworth Scouts Match


 Our Summer program came to its conclusion on Saturday with our annual match for the First Rickmansworth Scout Group. Out of the 12 participants, for a good few this was their first ever fishing trip so the coaching team of Tony Forman , David Brown , Michael Heylin and Paul Forman set to work ensuring that everyone had a good grasp of the basics and secured the goal of ensuring that every participant caught.  Up at 5am back home just before dark, but still smiling. A good day at the Hayes Canal Festival, we met some great people and enthusiastic new Anglers.
