November 2017 - Carp a Plenty at the Coaches Social!

With the summer coaching season over, it was time for a weekend Coaches Social. Paul Forman, Tony Forman and David Brown were joined by Pete Cardell as we descended on a private lake which we had been fortunate enough to gain access to for the event. It was an overcast start for us but at least that kept the temperatures up which were due to plummet the following day. We saw no action in the daylight hours but a short time after darkness fell, it was Tony who kicked things off with a lovely Mirror of just over 18lb, the rain started to really come down and saw Dave getting his first with a Common around 16lb, followed by a 4am wakeup call for Paul in the form of a 23lb Common. The rain continued to fall until after Dawn, where the wind picked up and the predicted cold snap arrived. Tony lost a carp during the day as it used a thick weed bed to help dispatch the hook, but as darkness came there were still signs of fish moving despite the rapidly dropping temperature. Dave was in action again at Midnight, followed by another take at 1am which put him firmly in first place thanks to two Commons just shy of the 20lb Mark. Last action fell to Paul at 5am but another carp slipped away as it found sanctuary in the weed. Great time, great company and some stunning fish thanks to the ever reliable NashBait Scopex Squid and Key Cray. Hope to be planning another social soon!
